Hockey Odisha crash out of Sr Men Natl Championship

Hockey Odisha ended their campaign on a disappointing note in Pool A of the 5th Senior National Hockey Championship (Division A) as they lost to Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 1-5 in their fourth and last league match at Pune today.

This was the second defeat for Hockey Odisha, who earlier lost to Air India Sports Promotion Board 2-5 in their opening match. Of their other two pool matches, they beat Hockey Andhra Pradesh 8-2 and drew with Sports Authority of India 3-3.

April 16 (Match No 1):
Air India Sports Promotion Board (Arman Qureshi 10th-FG; Shivendra Singh 12th-FG; Arjun Halappa 43rd-PS; Gaganpreet Singh 53rd-PC; Vikas Vishnu Pillay 57th-FG) beat Hockey Odisha (Rajin Kandulna 29th-FG, Deepak Lugun 32nd-FG) 5-2.

April 17 (Match No 2):
Hockey Odisha (Amit Lohchab 11th-PC; Dilip Toppo 13th-PC, 40th-PC; Sunil Toppo 41st–FG; Joseph Toppo 45th-FG, 55th-FG; Arbin Barla 49th-FG; Rajin Kandulna 52th-FG) beat Hockey Andhra Pradesh (Sandeep Raju Sammeta 51st-FG, 54st-FG) 8-2.

April 22:
Hockey Odisha (Dilip Toppo 15-PC, Irsad Mirza 22-FG, Abhishek Singh 25-PS) drew with Sports Authority of India (Jagath Nachappa 26-PC, Pawan Kumar 39-FG, Basavraj 54-PC) 3-3.

April 23:
Hockey Odisha (Dilip Toppo 54-PC) lost to Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (Tarun Adhikari 19-FG), Aamir Khan 23-FG, Vikas Choudhary 41-FG, 44-FG, 60-FG) 1-5.
